PBA 2015: The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) moved its 41st season opening day from Sunday to Wednesday due to Typhoon Lando. The decision is historic considering this is the first time in PBA history that an opening has been cancelled.

According to a statement released by the office of PBA commissioner Chito Narvasa, the pro-league will postpone the 41st Season opening of the PBA at Smart Araneta Coliseum. The cancellation also affected the supposed first PBA game of the season between Rain or Shine and Purefoods Star.

“Safety of our people is our priority. Instead, we shall have the formal opening on Wednesday, with the same game to be played,” stated by the same office in a press release.

In addition, the other scheduled games for Wednesday will be moved to a later undetermined date after the eliminations.

It was also mentioned that the opening event will be held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena instead in Pasay City this Wednesday.

PBA Media bureau chief Willie Marcial also indicated that the league will send aid assistance to the victims of Typhoon Lando.
