° The inaugural Far Eastern Games Basketball was held in Manila on February 3 to 7 in 1913. Philippines, China, Japan and Thailand, Hongkong and Malaysia are the Asian nations that participated in the games.
° It was Elwood Brown, then president of Philippine Athletic Association and Manila Carnival Games who started the creation of the Far Eastern Olympic Games.
° Due to war and invasion, the 1938 Far Eastern Games was cancelled and which consequentially led to the demise of the historic games.
° The Philippines clinched the 1st Place (Gold Medal) in all Far Eastern Games Basketball except in 1921 when they dropped to 2nd Place.
° Due to the influence of the United States to the Philippine basketball scene, it was considered that the island nation was the most prolific hoops participant in the games. The Islanders won 9 of 10 from 1913 to 1934, except at one time by China in the 1921 Shanghai Games where the host won.
