° The Philippine Basketball Team was suspended from participation in the Asian Games Basketball in 2006.
° The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) began sending professional cagers to the Asiad beginning in 1990 Beijing Asian Games.
° In 2018, FIBA suspended several Gilas national cagers (together with some Aussies) as punishment for the Australian - Filipino riot during the FIBA Worlds qualifier held in Bulacan. As a result, the Philippines was forced to send a replacement team (better known as Rain or Shine Pilipinas) to the 2018 Asian Games Basketball held in Indonesia. Additionally, Cleveland Cavaliers guard and Fil-American Jordan Clarkson also suited-up for the Philippines basketball as a late entry to the Asiad joust.
