Samboy Lim "Sky Walker" Player Profile | Pilipinas Basketball History
English
Player Profile of "SkyWalker" Avelino Borromeo Lim Jr better known as Samboy Lim who was born in Pasig City April 1, 1962. Popular for his one-on-one moves and aerial prowess, Samboy instilled fear to any defensive force he played against. Diminutive at 5'11, his height belied his ability to score and dominate a game at will. Drafted in 1986 in the PBA, Lim was also a mainstay of the Philippine Basketball team.

More on Samboy Lim:

Known as “The Dragon” and “The SkyWalker”, Samboy Lim was the most deserving PBA player to have never won the MVP award. Lim never finished a PBA season because of his daredevil moves which caused him severe injuries. No harm, however, can keep away Samboy as he riddled his defenders in local, Asian and international hoops scene. Samboy played every game as if it was his last. Lim was feared most by the Chinese NT just like his compatriot Allan Caidic. Samboy Lim played his whole 10 years in the PBA for only one team, the San Miguel Beermen. He was also compared to Michael Jordan by a correspondent from the Asian Journal. An American import by the name of Andy Thompson, once stated that Lim was NBA material.

• Trivia:
Aside from Samboy's basketball wizardry and domination, Lim wowed the crowd in Girona Spain when he made 37 points against Banco di Roma of Italy in the 1985 FIBA World Club Championships.
• His Memorable Quote:
• "Who won the game?" Lim asked a visiting Lastimosa. Samboy was hospitalized due to a clothesline by the latter requiring several stitches
• What others said:
Famed former National Coach Ron Jacobs once said to a doctor, "Please fix Samboy. He is my Michael Jordan."
