UAAP: University of the East Red Warriors slashes reigning champion National University Bulldogs, 76-71 to barge into the win column in the Season 78 UAAP Men’s Basketball this Saturday at SM MOA Arena Pasay City. Bonbon Batiller led the Warriors attack with 23 Points, while Edgar Charcos added 12 markers for UE.
Filipino: Winasiwas ng University of the East Red Warriors ang kamakailan ay kampeon na National University Bulldogs, 76-71 upang makatala ng unang panalo sa Season 78 UAAP Men’s Basketball ngayon Sabado sa SM MOA Arena lungsod Pasay. Pinangunahan ni Bonbon Batiller ang Warriors sa pagbuslo ng 23 Puntos, maging si Edgar Charcos ay bumira ng kanyang 12 Puntos para sa UE.
The second defeat is the worst season opener for the embattled NU Bulldogs, this after Eric Altamirano took the coaching duties for NU.
A proud son of General Santos City, Batiller led UE despite grieving over a death in his his family. The rookie made good account of himself by firing a barrage of 4 of 8 trey shots, to lead UE’s third canto run. Bonbon also ensured the Warriors victory after a clutch midrange jumper he made in the fourth to widen the gap by 70-64 for UE.
Gelo Alolino led all scorers for the defeated NU with 23, while Pau Javelona chipped-in 16. Also, NU big man Alfred Aroga made only 8 markers and 16 caroms.
The Bulldogs will have to dig deep from their championship experience to better their 0-2 win-loss slate.
