UST mastered DLSU in the pivotal fourth quarter to wrestle the victory once more over La Salle in Season 78. DLSU led in all three quarters until the Tigers rallied with a 22-13 fourth canto scoring output. The España based dribblers also made the critical shots and defensive halts in crunch time to stymie the DLSU effort.
The Tigers not only repeated their win over DLSU, they also made the same rally in the final frame to beat La Salle. In their first meeting, the Green Archers led by 14 in the third but UST rallied and won the game. Today, it was a dejavu of sorts as UST trailed La Salle by 11, only to snatch the lead and defeat the Taft-based dribblers.
Veteran Kevin Ferrer also made his appearance known for the UST with a remarkable 11 important points in crunch time. Ferrer finished with 15 baskets and 11 caroms.
Spitfire power forward Jeron Teng meanwhile towed the losing effort of DLSU with 16 points, 8 boards and 6 dimes. Prince Rivero, Joashua Torralba and Thomas Torres all contributed 13, 12 and 11 baskets respectively.
UST tied league leader FEU Tamaraws in the first place, while DLSU dropped to a 4-4 win-loss slate.
UST will face the NU Bulldogs this coming Saturday, as De La Salle battles UE Red Warriors this Wednesday.
