UAAP 2015: Far Eastern University Tamaraws cruises past Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles, 66-61, in the Season 78 UAAP Men’s Basketball this Sunday October 11 at the Araneta Coliseum Quezon City. Mac Belo starred for FEU with his 12 baskets, 5 boards and 2 dimes, while Russel Escoto and Roger Pogoy chipped-in 10 markers apiece.
FEU registered its 6th consecutive victory in UAAP to barge to the top of the standings in Season 78. The Tamaraws outscored the resilient Ateneo 19-14 in the final quarter.
Belo also made the critical basket with 3:16 left in the ballgame to halt the impending rally of the Blue Eagles.
Usually reliable Mike Tolomia was saddled with early foul woes and only managed 8 points, 4 boards and 2 assists the whole ballgame.
Clearly unhappy with their performance despite the victory, coach Nash Racela rued FEU’s trouble with limiting their fouls as six of their players committed couple of fouls early at the half. The Tamaraws also gave-up 32 points to Ateneo due to lackluster defense.
Ateneo hero and reigning MVP Kiefer Ravena led the Blue Eagles with 15 markers, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Adrian Wong also contributed 14 markers, while Von Pessumal added 8 baskets.
Ateneo dropped to 4-4 win-loss slate after the loss.
