Gilas Pilipinas Basketball wins 2nd Place and bags Silver Medal in the William Jones Cup 2015 in Taipei Taiwan. “The Blur” Jayson Castro nets the Best Guard as part of the Best Five players plum of the Jones Cup. The awarding ceremonies were made late at 9PM in the evening with Iran and Taiwan A bagging gold and bronze respectively.

Filipino: Nakamit ng Gilas Pilipinas Basketball ang pangalawang puwesto o Pilak na medalya sa William Jones Cup 2015 sa Taipei Taiwan. Si “The Blur” Jayson Castro ay nag-uwi ng Best Guard kasama sa Best Five na manlalaro sa Jones Cup. Ang paggawad ng mga medalya ay ginanap mga alas-nuwebe ng gabi, kasama ang Iran at Taiwan A na nanalo ng Ginto at Tanso para sa kanya-kanyang koponan.

RP Team never won a Silver medal in the tournament history except this year. The Philippine Basketball Team won the Jones Cup Gold medal in 1981, 1985, 1998 and 2012. Pilipinas also copped the Bronze medal in 2005, 2007 and 2011 editions of the tilt.

Terrence Romeo curiously did not win an award although he wowed and grabbed the media attention in Taiwan. Romeo could have also won an award if not for the injury he sustained in the tournament. Romeo posterized tall and giant opposition with the likes of Hamed Haddadi, Quincy Davis and Ha Seung Jin.




Gilas 3.0 was mentored by coach Tab Baldwin. Other players in the team included Calvin Abueva, Asi Taulava, Gary David, Moala Tautuaa, JC Intal, Jimmy Alapag, Sonny Thoss, Troy Rosario, Marc Pingris, Aldrech Ramos, Ranidel De Ocampo, Matt Ganuelas Rosser, Gabe Norwood and Dondon Hontiveros Naturalized center Andray Blatche did not play a single game due to a family emergency. NBA star Jordan Clarkson went to Taipei to personally support the Filipinos in Jones Cup but did not play as he was still awaiting the greenlight of LA Lakers and FIBA so he could play with RP team.

RP Five attended Jones Cup as preparation for the FIBA Asia 2015. The Filipinos also attended the Estonia pocket tournament where they failed to win a game. In Taipei, the team win-loss slate ended-up at 5-2, losing only to South Korea and Iran.
