San Beda Red Lions smites Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers, 83-75, to stay ahead of the pack in the 91st NCAA Season Basketball at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan. Nigerian reinforcement Ola Adeogun dominated the paint in crunch time to score 11 of his total 23 Points, while the reliable Art Dela Cruz led with 26. JRU relied on Paolo Pontejos for 19 Points.

Ang alas ng Red Lions na si Ola Adeogun ay nangmama sa ilalim sa ika-apat na yugto sa kanyang 11 Puntos kasama sa kabuuang 23 Puntos upang itawid sa tagumpay ang San Beda. Si Art Dela Cruz naman ay nanguna sa kanyang 26 Puntos. Sa JRU naman ay nagtala si Pontejos ng kanyang 19 Puntos.

JRU managed to stay afloat for most of the game, using stifling pressure defense to destabilize San Beda, until Adeogun lifted the roaring Lions with his 11 Points in final frame. San Beda now leads in NCAA Seniors standings with 10 wins to 2 to losses.

Meanwhile MVP material Art Dela Cruz dropped monster numbers with a triple double of 26 Points, 16 Rebounds and 10 Assists for San Beda.




Spitfire pointguard Baser Amer returned to action after being sidelined to a dislocated shoulder for most of the season. Amer missed a total of eight games of the Red Lions. “We’re happy that Baser is back. We need every player to contribute to be successful this season,” stated coach Mike Jarin as quoted in Inquirer.net.

In the first game of the day, a returning Josan Nimes steered Mapua Cardinals with 18 Points to a dominant 87-78 victory over San Sebastian Stags. Nimes is on a comeback bid after suffering a hamstring injury. Mapua win-loss slate stands at 6-11.
