NCAA: Mapua Cardinals surprises season leader College of San Juan de Letran, 82-77, this Tuesday in Season 91 of NCAA Seniors Men’s Basketball at The Arena in San Juan. Reinforcement Allwell Oraeme powered the Cardinals with his colossal 30 Rebounds and 18 Points. Mapua, who lost coach Atoy Co to a two-game suspension, improved to a 9-5 win-loss slate.

Ang hugot na si Allwell Oraeme ay namuwersa para sa Cardinals sa kanyang mala-mamang 30 Rebounds at 18 Puntos. Ang Mapua, na hindi na kasama si coach Atoy Co dahil sa dalawang larong suspensyon, ay umangat na sa 9-5 na kaltada.
The Nigerian import Oraeme proved too powerful against Letran’s big men as he wowed the San Juan crowd with his domination in Rebounds.
The Mapua victory serves as the second game that the Cardinals emerged winners despite not having coach Atoy Co. The first was the 76-64 domination of the CSB Blazers last August 7.
Coincidentally, the game is a sweet reward for Mapua since they last defeated Letran in year 2010, 63-60.
First year John Nieles contributed 16 markers for the Cardinals, while Justin Serrano chipped-in 14 Points and 5 Rebounds.
Mapua, who obviously was in disarray despite the win, gave-up 35 whopping turnovers, evidence of Atoy Co’s absence in the court.
For his part, Mark Cruz scored 17 Points for the disappointing Letran loss. CSJL now slides down to 11-3 win-loss slate.
