ISAA: Philippine Air Transport and Training Services College of Aeronautics SeaHorses defeated Philippine Women’s University Pirates, 78-70, to take Game 1 of ISAA (Inter-Scholastic Athletic Association) Men’s basketball finals this Tuesday at the Makati Coliseum. John Paul Manansala topscored for PATTS with 29 stellar points, while Jestoni Loyola added 17 markers.

Si John Paul Manansala ang tumikada para sa PATTS sa kanyang 29 buslo, at maging si Jestoni Loyola ay nagtala ng 17 puntos.

The leading MVP contender in the ISAA, Manansala dropped his 29 markers to lift the SeaHorses, but it was Louis Lloyd Capinding who made the critical shots in crunch time to seal PATTS Game 1 victory in the Best of Three finals.

It was a see-saw battle as the PWU Patriots led by as much as 10 points, 51-41, but the SeaHorses surged ahead courtesy of Capinding’s consecutive clutch treys for a 61-61 cushion lead.




The game was almost stopped due to an incident involving PATTS big man Mark Velasco, who was ejected after kicking Dave Tecson in the face. No suspensions were meted out as Velasco personally apologized to ISAA officials.

Jeric Serrano led the losing cause of PWU Pirates with his 22 markers.

The win is the seventh consecutive for PATTS in ISAA after a dismal 0-2 start in the season.

Game 2 is set for Friday with PATTS battling for its first ISAA title.
