World Number 5 Greece dodges the Gilas Pilipinas bullet with a comfortable 82-70 victory in the preliminaries of FIBA World Cup 2014. Georgios Printezis powered Hellas with 25 points while Andray Blatche posted 21 points and 14 boards. Junmar “The Kraken” Fajardo also contributed 10 markers and 6 caroms in an efficient 10 minutes of gametime.

Si Georgios Printezis ay pumailanlang para sa Hellas na tumikada ng 25 puntos, gayung si Andray Blatche ay umalagwa na may 21 puntos at 14 rebounds. Si Junmar “The Kraken” Fajardo ay nagbigay 10 puntos at 6 na rebounds sa loob lamang ng 10 minutong paglalaro.
Philippines struggled shooting the entire game with a dismal 24 out of 68 field goals and 6 out of 22 from the rainbow arc. Despite the paltry clip percentage, RP Five kept the game close and had a near chance of pulling an upset as they scored better, 21-18, in the fourth canto.
The unusually high Greek lead belie the hotly contested court game which almost resulted to a free-for-all after the endgame. The Filipinos took offense over the Greek disrespect when Greek Kaimakoglou shot a traitorous trey all the while everyone was already shaking hands. The undefended rainbow shot pulled the European powerhouse to 82 from a supposed 79-70 win.
