Gilas Pilipinas gives Estonia some late game fright before bowing-out to an 80-90 loss in the Four Nations Cup 2015 in Tallinn. Estonia led for most of the game via prolific rainbow shooting and ball movement in addition to obvious home-cooking referee calls. Andray Blatche led with 16 points while Jayson “The Blur” Castro and Terrence Romeo chipped in 12 and 10 apiece.
Calvin “The Beast” Abueva and Matt Ganuelas Rosser both fouled out of the game with Abueva getting the grime of dubious officiating by the referees. The gung-ho forward also suffered a nasty fall midway of the second quarter.
RP Five made good in the 2 Point Field Goals department with 54% shots against Estonia’s 47%. The Filipino quintet also hauled 33 Caroms and 10 dishes compared to the hosts who managed 36 and 12 respectively. Pilipinas Basketball shot a dismal 8 of 27 treys for a 30% shooting opposite the Europeans 41% of 14 of 34 howitzers.
Gilas is in severe need of steady rainbow snipers, with Jeff Chan and Paul Lee not playing, it remains to be seen if the dribble drive offense will hold water.
