CESAFI: University of the Visayas Green Lancers scorched University of San Carlos Warriors, 74-43, this Sunday in Season 15 of CESAFI (Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc.) Men’s Basketball at the Cebu Coliseum. UV is now at the top of CESAFI with 9-2 slate. Alfred Codilla led with 18 markers with 2 rebounds, while former national youth standout Leonard Santillan and Cameroonian Steve Akomo contributed 14 and 10 points apiece.

Men’s Basketball sa Cebu Coliseum. Nangunguna na ngayon ang UV sa CESAFI na mayroon 9-2 kaltada. Pumukol si Alfred Codilla ng 18 buslo kasama ang 2 rebounds, at maging si Leonard Santillan at Cameroonian Steve Akomo ay nagtala ng 14 at 10 buslo bawat isa.

The Green Lancers built a whopping 19-point advantage at the end of the first canto. UV continued to erect a bigger lead of 25-points before the end of the half.

Santillan and Codilla (named as the Best Player of the Game) helped continue to dampen the hopes of the resilient Warriors as the Lancers dictated the game with a 29-point cushion in the third.




The game was marred by a couple of near-stoppages, one when Christian Maconocido fell to a probable foot injury, and another when Jerome Napao claimed he was clobbered to the face by a player from USC.

UV further widened the gap with a 31-point lead in the last two minutes.

USC import Shooster Olago was the only bright spot for the losing Warriors, who ended-up with 13 points.

USC and UV both sport an identical 9-2 card, but the win of UV gave it the advantage in standings.

University of San Carlos will next face UC Webmasters this Tuesday.
