CESAFI: University of San Jose Recoletos Jaguars nips the reigning titlist Southwestern University Cobras, 68-63, in Season 15 of CESAFI Men’s Basketball this Sunday at the New Cebu Coliseum. Kevin Rey Villafranca topscored for the Jaguars with 19 Points, 9 Rebounds and 2 Blocks, while Juan Miguel Gastador spent his energy to contribute 17 stellar markers. The win propels USJR, who is on target to enter the Final Four of CESAFI 2015.

Si Kevin Rey Villafranca ang nanguna sa pagtikada sa Jaguars sa kanyang 19 Puntos, 9 Rebounds at 2 Sapal, maging si Juan Miguel Gastador ay gumasta ng enerhiya upang magtala ng 17 buslo. Ang tagumpay na ito ay nagbigay pag-asa sa USJR, na nagnanais makapasok sa Final Four ng CESAFI 2015.
At crunch overtime, Mark Labares and Villafranca provided the cushion lead for the Jaguars with a 65-59 score. The final seconds saw Mark Jayven Tallo spearheading a four point blast, but the effort was not enough as SWU escaped with the sweet victory.
The third canto was a see-saw battle between USJR and SWU as the Cobras managed to wrest the lead with 6:21 remaining in the third. However Gastador quelled the SWU uprising with his three point play. The Jaguars led at the end of the third with 42-40 score.
The first half ended in a deadlock as the protagonists compiled identical 26 Points score.
The Cobras relied on 2-time MVP Tallo who dropped 21 markers for SWU. Usual reliables Juju Bautista and Jovanie Luz chipped-in 12 Points apiece respectively.
SWU played with a depleted line-up with Jan Michael Auditor sitting out the game due to injury. South Western played with only 8 players during the game.
