New Zealand blazed with 57.9% fieldgoal clip opposite Gilas’ 40.5%, and outscored the Filipinos in the paint with 34 against 24. RP Five also turned the ball over 14 times which the Kiwis converted to 16 huge markers. The Pinoys however shot better beyond the arc with 40.7% three-point percentage against 33.3% of New Zealand.

Gilas trailed twice by only two points in the fourth quarter with scores 58-60 and 60-62, both courtesy of Blatche heroics. However, the Pinoy dribblers were unable to place an effective stop against the New Zealand offensive onslaught as the Kiwis relied on the late surge of Tom Abercrombie to widen the lead.

Andray Blatche led the Filipino charge with 30 big baskets together with 7 total caroms. Jayson Castro William chipped-in 13 points on a 3 of 5 shooting from the rainbow line.

The Filipinos are now effectively eliminated from the Rio Olympic Qualifying Tournament after suffering two consecutive setbacks.
