UAAP: UST Growling Tigers blocks UP Fighting Maroons victory march, 67-59 in the UAAP Season 78 Men’s Basketball this Sunday at the SM MOA Arena Pasay City. Ed Daquioag pumped his monster 27 Points for the Tigers with 13 markers going in the final quarter. Kevin Ferrer added 16 Points and 10 Caroms, while Karim Abdul contributed 8 markers with 8 Rebounds.

Bumuslo si Ed Daquioag ng mala-halimaw na 27 Puntos, kasama rito ang 13 na binitawan niya sa ika-apat na yugto ng laro. Si Kevin Ferrer naman ay nagdagdag ng 16 Puntos at 10 Rebounds, at maging si Karim Abdul ay nagpakawala ng 8 Buslo at 8 Rebounds.
The brewing skirmish of the undefeated squads left UP Maroons reeling with UST achieving their third victory in Season 78. UP fought tooth and nail opposite the Tigers, but Daquioag proved unstoppable for the Maroons. Daquioag also collared 6 Rebounds to go with his 27 markers.
University of Santo Tomas pummeled UP in the paint with 32 inside points against 22. However, the Maroons outshot UST in the midrange with 28 for UP against 12 of the Tigers. The 20 game turnovers of UP, which was converted by UST to 20 Tiger points may have won the game for the Sto Tomas squad.
UST will try to extend their winning run against winless NU Bulldogs this Saturday to barge into a 4-0 slate.
Diego Dario meanwhile led University of the Philippines with 15 markers. Paul Desiderio also contributed 12 Points and 7 Rebounds.
The Fighting Maroons settles for a 2-1 win-loss slate after a hot start. UP’s next assignment will be the FEU Tamaraws.
