Gilas Pilipinas Basketball trashes fellow Filipino compatriot Talk N Text, 93-77 to register its first victory in the Master Game Face MVP Cup late Friday at Smart Araneta Coliseum. Terrence Romeo made another spectacular performance by dropping 22 Points, 6 Assists and 5 Rebounds, while Jones Cup 2015 Mythical Five member Jayson Castro logged 14 markers for the Philippine Basketball Team..
Filipino: Pinadapa ng Gilas Pilipinas Basketball ang mga kababayan nito na Talk N Text, 93-77 para sungkitin ang unang tagumpay sa Master Game Face MVP Cup nitong Biyernes sa Smart Araneta Coliseum. Pumailanlang na naman si Terrence Romeo para sa kagila-gilalas na 22 Puntos, 6 Assists at 5 Rebounds, maging si Jones Cup Mythical Five Jayson Castro ay nagtala ng kanyang 14 Puntos para sa koponan pambansa.
Naturalized player Andray Blatche missed several trey shots and managed only 12 Points. Still clearly not in his best shape, Blatche may have also sustained a mild hip bruise.
To most observers, the tiff between Gilas and Talk N Text appeared to be more of a practice session or a scrimmage in the first half of battle. The game was still close up until Gilas drove their defense up a notch and with Romeo taking over the game for the easy win.
Gilas Pilipinas prepares to collide against New Zealand Wellington Saints on Saturday and finishes their schedule against a dangerous Chinese Taipei squad this Sunday. Incidentally, the Saints will also have former PBA import Jameel Watkins.
For the Talk N Text side, former Gilas Pilipinas sniper Larry Fonacier scored 20 Points including the four three pointers he registered. Big Mo Tautuaa also contributed 16 markers for the Tropang Texters.
The MVP Cup is part of the preparations of the Pilipinas Basketball Team for the upcoming FIBA Aisa 2015 in Changsha China.
