University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons continues to surprise unbelievers as they trounce a shell-shocked La Salle Green Archers, 71-66 in the UAAP Men’s Basketball at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Jett Manuel steered the Maroons with 14 Points, while Andres Desiderio and Pio Longa chipped-in 13 and 10 Points each.
The resurgent UP, now led by coach Rensy Bajar, notched their second victory in UAAP Season 78. It was in 2005 when UP last had a 2-0 start in UAAP Seniors Basketball history.
The Green Archers will settle for a 1-1 Win-Loss slate after suffering the shock upset to the Maroons.
Curiously, UP coach Bajar predicted they will win more than one game in UAAP 78. They have already achieved that, and have their sights on higher ground.
Yung tiyaga at sipag nila sa practice maganda yun,” stated Bajar as quoted by Rappier last July 29.
