Hungry for a win, ravenous China mangles drained Gilas Pilipinas 78-71, in the medal-less classification round of Incheon South Korea Asian Games 2014. Marcus “Big Daddy” Douthit dropped 24 points with 6 rebounds for the Philippine Basketball team. Ranidel “RDO” De Ocampo contributed 14 markers for the battered and bruised but fighting Gilas Pilipinas.

In a non-televised scrappy game between Gilas Pilipinas and infamous former champion China, Pilipinas gave-up 12 turnovers which China converted to 20 winning points. The errors made by the RP Five again dictated the outcome of the ballgame, with China capitalizing with every gifted possession. Philippines made only 27% in threepoint shots resulting to 3 of 11 treys and a horrible 27 of 59 fieldgoal clip.

Liu Xiaoyu led the East Asians with 16 points, while Zhao Tailong contributed 14 markers. China gave-up more fouls than the Filipino quintet, 21 to 20. In contrast, they fared better from beyond the arc with 8 of 23 howitzers for a 35% rainbow shooting.

In the first half, it was all Douthit with 16 points as no other locals were in double figures. Marc “Pinoy Sakuragi” Pingris and Jimmy “Mighty Mouse” Alapag did not suit-up due to injuries. China dominated the Pinoy squad with 42 to 34 score at the half, mostly from points in the paint 22 to 14.
