Stonewall Qatar stops a tired Gilas Pilipinas on its track, 77-68, to notch a victory in Incheon South Korea Asian Games 2014. The late heroics of Pilipinas Basketball captain Jimmy “Mighty Mouse” Alapag proved futile despite 5 dagger treys and 15 big points. Marcus “Big Daddy” Douthit contributed 10 markers. Turnovers and a forgettable fieldgoal shooting by the Gilas five sealed the first loss for the nationals.

Yousuf Mohamed lifted Qatar with 19 monstrous points while reinforcement Boney Watson continually gave the Filipinos headaches with his 15 momentum swinging markers. Qatar made a gigantic run in the third quarter that doomed RP five courtesy of five unanswered three point shots.

Philippine Basketball Team again paid the hefty price of 18 turnovers. The rainbow shot percentage was also terrible with 10 of 26 three point shots resulting to 38% trey percentage. The game itself was marred by dubious fouls, non-calls and paltry shooting by both opposing teams.

Paul Lee Dalistan led Gilas by 8 markers in the first half. RP quintet made 12 of 28 from the clip for a 43% Fieldgoal percentage and 6 of 14 treys from the arc. Pilipinas also dominated the boards at the half with 18 caroms opposite 14 of Qatar.
